Draft — pending legal review

This document is a good-faith draft and is not yet legal advice or a final policy. It is pending review by a qualified Australian privacy and commercial lawyer (docs/LEGAL-SIGNOFF.md). Consent-gated peer comparison and public launch are held until the relevant items are signed off.

Terms of Service

Effective (draft): July 2026

These terms govern your use of SchoolReport. By adding a child and uploading a report, you agree to them. They cover who may use the service, the licence you grant us over uploaded reports, our commitments to you, billing and refunds, and the referral program.

Who may use the service

You may use SchoolReport only if you are the parent or legal guardian of the child whose reports you upload, and you are authorised to provide those reports. The service is for private family use — to understand your own child’s progress. You must not use it for any commercial purpose, or to process reports for a child who is not in your care.

Reports you upload — the licence you grant, and your assurance to us

School reports are typically protected by copyright. Reports issued by Victorian government schools are generally Crown copyright; reports from other schools may be owned by the school or others. You keep whatever rights you have — we do not claim ownership of your report.

To provide the service, you grant us a limited, non-exclusive, royalty-free licence to store and process the report you upload, and the data extracted from it, solely to deliver the service to you (reading the report, letting you confirm it, generating your dashboard and coaching, and — only if you opt in — anonymous comparison). This licence is limited to what the service needs and ends when you delete the relevant data.

You confirm that you are permitted to upload the report for this purpose, and you agree to indemnify us against claims arising from your uploading a report you were not entitled to upload, or using the service in breach of these terms. This clause is one of the items flagged for legal review before public launch.

Our commitments to you

  • We delete the original uploaded file once you confirm the extracted grades — only structured data remains.
  • We never sell your data.
  • We never use your family’s data to train third-party AI models.
  • We never use children’s data for advertising.
  • The AI that reads your report runs on Anthropic’s Claude API, hosted in the United States. You confirm every result — there are no automated decisions without your review.
  • You can export or delete your data at any time.

Billing and refunds

You can read the first insights on every report for free. To unlock the full analysis you can pay per report (A$10) or subscribe to the Family annual plan (A$99 per year, billed annually to match the school calendar). A short card-on-file trial of the Family plan may be offered on report-release day; if offered, we remind you before it converts, and it auto-converts to a paid plan unless you cancel. All prices are in Australian dollars and include any applicable GST.

If something goes wrong — for example, extraction fails and we cannot deliver the analysis you paid for — contact us and we will put it right, which may include a refund. Refunds may reverse a related referral commission (see below). Nothing in these terms limits rights you have under the Australian Consumer Law.

Referral program

If you refer another family with your personal link, and the family you referred makes their first paid purchase, you may earn a cash reward of 20% of that purchase (for example, A$2 on a A$10 report). Terms:

  • One reward per newly referred paying household. Self-referrals and abuse are not eligible.
  • A reward becomes payable after the refund window on the triggering purchase has passed, and is paid once your balance reaches the minimum payout threshold.
  • If the triggering purchase is refunded, the reward is reversed (clawed back).
  • The reward is for making the referral — it is never a payment for a child’s data.
  • Tax note: cash rewards you receive may be assessable income. You are responsible for your own tax. We are not providing tax advice; please seek your own if unsure.

Changes, suspension and contact

We may update these terms; we’ll post the updated version here and, for material changes, let you know. We may suspend or end access for misuse. You can stop using the service at any time and delete your data. Questions: support@schoolreportvic.ai.
